David Johnston and Kim Master (New Society Publishers, 2004) Essentially, "World Changing" is a collection of emerging innovations and solutions. Forwarded by Al Gore, this book includes sections on "Creating Healthy Homes, Designing a Sustainable World, Picking Green Materials, Collaborative Design, Open Source Design, Design for Development", as well as an entire third of the book on all aspects of "Shelter".
The section entitled "Green Remodeling" defines recognized materials, such as reclaimed wood, FSC approved wood flooring choices and recycled-glass tile and countertop products. This section also includes a list of suggested resources in finding materials for "green remodeling". How useful and easy to navigate: This book is beautifully composed and thoughtfully organized. Each chapter is neatly divided into sections, which are then divided into smaller segments, which make for quick reference checks or readable blurbs of interesting information. Personal Evaluation: I found this book helpful, simple to navigate and extract information from, and inspiring. The perspective of which each of the ideas is presented, is fresh and applicable. If we were to decide to change the world tomorrow, I would be confident in using "World Changing" as my number one guide book.
